"...on earth as it is in heaven."
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing
Nurturing the Hearts of Women in Ministry
She Is His was birthed from a profound experience, a moment of revelation at a conference hosted by a remarkable black woman leading in ministry. Our founder witnessed the selfless dedication of a leader, tirelessly pouring into others regardless of her own circumstance. Like a mother, who labored for hours, she was up there FEEDING them, regardless of how she felt. Yet, amidst the outpouring, our founder felt a burden: "What about HER?" This question echoed in her heart, inspiring the birth of She Is His.
A Call to Finishing Well
A sobering reality emerged as our founder delved into the pages of the Bible—about 70% of leaders did not finish well. This heart-shattering statistic fueled the birth of our ministry. She Is His exists to encourage and support women of color in their enduring service, helping them live out God's plan for their lives until the very end.
Well Leaders = Well Traveled Gospel
She Is His is more than a teaching ministry; it's a sanctuary of support and service. We are devoted to caring for black and brown women who serve in full-time or frontline ministry. While we share biblical gems and host events that inspire all, our focus goes beyond teaching. We extend love and care beyond the realm of ministries, supporting these women as individuals, leaders, and cherished sisters. Making sure leaders are well, is one way we ensure the travel of the gospel.
Encouragement and Support
At She Is His, we offer more than words; we provide a refuge of encouragement and support. Our ministry is a source of strength, lifting the spirits of women who dedicate their lives to serving and honoring the Lord. We understand the unique challenges they face, and our commitment is to walk with them on their journey, ensuring they thrive for the long haul.
Join us in this sacred space where love, care, and encouragement abound—a space where women of color in ministry find solace, strength, and a community that understands the depth of their calling.
Join us in challenging the norms, breaking down barriers, and fostering a community where women of color not only survive but thrive in their faith journey and ministries.
Why Women of Color?
Unveiling the Heart Behind She Is His
At She Is His, our love extends to all women, recognizing the beauty of each individual as an image bearer. We recognize and appreciate the dedication of all women (and men) who are committed to worshiping and serving in spirit and in truth . Yet, we confront an unfortunate reality—one where black and brown women face not only a lack of support but are often subject to criticism. Moreover, a spiritual battle rages, aiming to divert women of color from the love of Jesus.
Changing the Narrative
She Is His stands as a catalyst for change. We refuse to accept the status quo and are determined to alter the narrative surrounding black and brown women in ministry and in the faith. Our call is intercession; it's a call to action against the spiritual battles that seek to hinder these women.
A Haven of Support
In the face of adversity, She Is His is a haven—a sanctuary where women of color can not only embrace their identity in Christ but also find unwavering support. We understand the unique challenges they encounter, and our commitment is to stand alongside them, providing strength and encouragement.
Embracing Unique Identities
God's kingdom is vast and encompasses people from every nation and tongue, with none valued more than the other. She Is His acknowledges this truth but also recognizes a specific passion and calling to focus on a segment of His population. Our ministry is fueled by a desire to see women of color fully equipped and encouraged to share the gospel in their unique ways.
A Passionate Vision
Yes, She Is His acknowledges the universal love of God, but we embrace a specific calling to address the needs of black and brown women. Through our passion, we strive to uplift, empower, and provide unwavering support for these women to shine brightly in their walk with Christ.
Join us in challenging the norms, breaking down barriers, and fostering a community where women of color not only survive but thrive in their faith journey and ministries.
There is one God, existing eternally in three persons: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. We believe Him to be all knowing and have full authority. We also believe Him to be One of love, who desires an intimate relationship with each of us.
The Father: Creator of all things. Ruler of all things. He is perfect.
The Son: Jesus- He is who we profess. We believe He was born of a virgin named Mary. We believe He lived a sinless life, took our place of eternal death by dying on the cross, and He resurrected from the dead. He is our living, reigning Savior. We believe every miracle Jesus performed and we believe He will return again.
The Holy Spirit: A gift…The Gift. He helps empower the believer to develop the character of Christ and live every day in God’s will. He lives in all who have invited Him in their heart, and professes Christ as the only Lord and Savior. Through love and grace, He chooses us to be his temple. Apart from Him, we cannot live holy.
The entire Bible is the infallible Word of God, written and inspired by the Holy Spirit. We believe in every word, as it is without error. We believe it to be our guide and utilized correctly and respectfully. We believe every word points to Christ and directs us to redemption through Him. We also believe the Bible to be a book of undeniable love.
Salvation is God’s free gift to man. It is not a result of what we do, but it is only available through God’s unearned favor. However, it is a choice to receive, by admitting we have sinned, and confessing our belief in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as Lord. Salvation is a one time event, but also expressed in our everyday choices.
We are the church. The church is the body of Christ in all of the world and we all have different functions within the body. We believe in submission towards the authority of the head of the church, which is Jesus. We believe we are called to be the church anywhere and everywhere, and invite people not to a “building” but into our lives to become the body of Christ, alongside us. We believe that as a church, we are called to the Great Commission by Jesus in Matthew 28. He tells us to go and make disciples in all nations, and baptize people in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that He has taught.
We believe God created every person in His image as male or female. These are two complementary genders created by God for specific reasons; equally valued and equally important. We are a ministry that is called to directly serve women, but we believe everyone can and should minister to all people as instructed by God. We believe that women can be, and are, called to teach and preach the word of God as confirmed in the Bible. Not only that, but we believe in what the Bible says in regard to the roles of women (and men) in marriages and in homes.Though we love and respect ALL people, regardless of sexuality or gender identity, we believe in the historical sexual ethic consistently communicated in the bible.
God is the author of all things-including gender assignments.
We believe in water baptism, as taught and demonstrated by Jesus. Baptism is not salvation, but it is an outward expression of an inward change to follow Christ.
We believe that the practice of taking communion is a part of worship. It’s an act of faith and obedience. The bread represents Christ’s body, and the juice represents His blood. We believe it should be done often in remembrance of Him.
God gives all believers spiritual gifts. They are for the strengthening of God’s people (the church) and proof of God’s existence and power to unbelievers. The gifts of the Spirit are active and relevant today. We believe that all believers should utilize their gifts to glorify God, walk in their calling, and serve others.
We value the Bible and its full authority. We value each and every word, as it’s inspired by the Holy Spirit, and points to reconciliation through Jesus. We read it in context and believe it to be complete. We believe it to be the most valuable tool for teaching, equipping, correcting, and encouraging. It is also the perfect manuscript for love.
We value prayer and know that communicating directly with God is a gift of love. Prayer is a powerful privilege and we make no move without it. We employ its power through listening, thanksgiving, interceding, petitioning, supplication, deliverance, and repentance.
We value the COURAGE it takes to tell the story of what God has done. It’s not always pretty, nor is it always comfortable. We place value in being authentic in ministry. We know that what God has done in us isn’t just for us.
We value accountability as an asset to our Christian walk. God holds us accountable (Hebrews 4:13), and we encourage accountability partnership with one another.
We value one another! This is a community that believes in encouraging, challenging, and serving one another with truth and love.
We value the Bible and its full authority. It is also the perfect manuscript for love.

Mel has had a commitment to ministering to and discipling women for the last 15 years, leading weekly bible studies, speaking, teaching and mentoring women in the faith. She has a passion to see all women walk fully and boldly in who God says they are.
Mel has a heart for repairing the relationship between women of color and the church; helping them to reimagine their faith the way God intended. She is especially called to care for other women of color, who selflessly serve in ministry; reminding them that they are seen and unfeignedly cared for.
Her greatest call is to mother her 11 year old daughter Kenley.
She and Kenley call New Orleans home with their 3 year old German Shepherd, Lexi.
